What are your fitness goals?
To always maintain a healthy balance between my physical, mental and emotional well-being, while ensuring I have fun. I respect my bodies limits and focus on a nutritious well-supplemented diet. I am always focusing on quality workouts, rather than quantity! All of this, while inspiring others to love and respect their own bodies.
So what do I mean by physical, mental and emotional well-being?
Physical: I train 4x a week with a specific focus on strength, conditioning and mobility to reach the highest levels of strength and fitness my body can achieve. I incorporate progressive loading through a variety of kettlebell, barbell and weight workout. Each workout, I ensure that I respectively allow my body to push to new levels and achievements. Together with a delicious diet of balanced macro’s and nutrients, ensuring my body receives the optimum energy it requires… with the occasional sweet treat of course. I am also very pedantic about the importance of quality sleep (at least 7hrs), plenty of water (H2O for the win) and essential supplements (Vitamin D = Sunshine in a bottle)!
Mental: Some days, I am the leanest, meanest, toughest in the gym and some days I want to curl up with a good book, my favourite treat and do nothing. Understanding that, that is OK! Not to beat myself up when I miss a day or enjoy my favourite treat, ultimately it is about having a healthy balance.
Emotional: I can still remember as a teenager the first time I became consciously aware of my body and I started forming a very negative image about myself. I am at the pinnacle of my fitness, where through many battles, trials and errors. I can safely say that I love and respect my body enough to know when I have reached my limit, provide it with the nourishment it needs and ensure I am always the best version of myself. #youdoyou
Having said this my absolute ultimate goal is to share my many failures and successes with the people I am blessed to come across. To encourage, motivate and educate them on their own fitness journey. Ensuring that they see it is not about how you look, but really it is all about how you feel (full of energy and love).
Why do you think you’re the USN Face of Fitness?
I have always been ‘that’ person (roll eyes here) who, no matter what the conversation is about, I’ll make sure I incorporate some form of health or fitness info in there.
I have worked in corporate, various industries (corporate wellness). I have been fortunate to live and travel around Europe and I am finally back in sunny South Africa where I am focusing on my true passion and love of health and fitness.
Through continuous investments and by educating myself about the industry, I make sure I keep up to date with the latest and greatest trends. As I mentioned previously, my ultimate goal is to be able to use various platforms, such as ‘USN Face of Fitness’ to share my own personal fitness journey; that being many highlights, low-lights, awkward and embarrassing moments.
Some will make you cringe, others you will ‘totally relate to’, and some may make you stop and wonder. Although the journey is long and sometimes tedious, to be able to find that healthy mind and body balance, the one which works for YOU, is the ultimate fitness achievement.
To be the next ‘USN Face of Fitness’ will create the platform to be an ambassador and spokesperson for others, both men and women, who share the same fitness goals & lifestyle. Most important, it is a way to connect to those individuals who want to have a better quality of life, but do not know where or how to start. Inspiring, educating and encouraging them every step of the way.
South Africa is ranked as one of the most obese countries in the world (insert shocked face here!). If together, we could inspire and motivate at least one person to be the best version of them self, that alone is already a great achievement. PLUS, I make a mean banana pancake… you won’t regret it.
